I have written about DHC before, I absolutely adore their olive oil cleanser and still use it now! But I’ve never properly written about how great their olive oil infused cotton swabs are! I have used a similar product to this before, Sephora do a version called ‘Sephora targeted eye remover swabs‘, you get 20 in a pack for $10 and you basically snap off one end of the swab and the other side then fills with makeup remover. Now, I’m UK based and seeing as we don’t have a Sephora its not too easy to stock up on the swabs no matter how great they are!
The DHC ones are a little different. Where the Sephora ones contain makeup remover in the stem, the DHC ones are individually wrapped and presoaked, they would be an AMAZING and useful addition to any makeup artists kit! Because they are pre soaked the bud isn’t totally drenched in product, personally, I like this, it means you can use them super lightly and just remove the smallest detail, without wiping out everything in the surrounding area too! As an example, I find with the Sephora swabs that when I use them to fix liquid eyeliner, the swab is so wet it takes off my eyeshadow AND foundation too. The DHC swab will just remove the teeniest amount of product at a time – erm, PERFECT!
As an example I used this to remove a swatch of the Fenty Stunna Lip Paint – which is very red and VERY hard to remove! As you can see, they worked like a champ. This is my fave thing about the swabs, I can use them as lightly as I need to fix eyeliner or a random spec of mascara, or I can apply some pressure and remove massive parts at a time, or restart the area I’m working on all together!
The DHC olive oil swabs are £6,95 for 50 swabs! Talk about value for money. On the outside the packaging might not be the most luxury or enticing thing you’ve ever seen, but the product inside works, and works well. So I’m willing to sacrifice a nice looking outer if whats inside is amazing!
