First off, I’m sorry about the picture quality of these images! I don’t really know what happened… but I took too many to go back and re-do them all, and I’ve been trying to get this bloody post published for two weeks so I didn’t want to spend even more time dilly dallying. Also, it’s causing me physical and emotional pain that I spend SO much money in the space of a week stocking up on products before I left my job!
As many of you will know, I have worked in retail, like, forever. Straight from school I went into working at Harvey Nichols, I started on the food market, and I only intended for it to last a year, I planned to re-sit my psychology A-level, and reapply to university within that time. But everything happens for a reason, and although I wish I had the chance to experience the uni life, it wasn’t meant to be for me. I ended up realizing I didn’t want to do photography, and stayed in my retail job until I figured out what I wanted to do… spoiler, I never figured it out! But I have found may way eventually! From Harvey Nichols food market, I went to Victoria’s Secret, and then back to Harvey Nichols again. And now I have started a totally new career within the travel industry, in a head office based in Leeds. So, I spent 7 years in retail enjoying the discount, and it’s suddenly come to a grinding halt! Obviously I had to do what any one else would, I had to stock up. And even though I was using my staff discount, let me tell you this is NOT a cheap or small haul!
Once I had handed in my notice and I got all of the ‘feels’ out of the way, my head started automatically making a wish list, OH NO! All the things I wanted to get ‘one day’, I may as well get… now. Foundations, concealers, SKIN CARE. fuck. Sit down and get comfy, because we’re gonna be here a while.
I had to break the categories down, and this is what I got…
I am big into skin care at the moment. I am constantly trying new things to give me the natural glow that every girl wants!
SO, what did I stock up on?
ANATOMICALS FACE MASKS
I have done a post on Anatomicals before (here), they are SO cheap and SO good! I always get two uses out of each pack and they are a great little product to have in your collection at all times. I find the best way to fit a face mask into my week is to take my make up off as soon as I get home from work and put the face mask straight on. I’ll have time to do a few little jobs ready for the next day (lunch, gym bag etc) and its ready to remove, then you can enjoy the rest of the evening!
I bought the following masks;
- The hottie tottie is never spotty – anti-blemish face mask
- Farewell the scarlet pimplehell – deep cleansing mud mask
- That’s what we call well stung – skin boosting honey face mask
- Get totally vit-faced – super greens superfood face mask
- I feel the need, the need for seaweed – calming algae face mask
Anatomicals can be purchased here and instore. All of these masks are either £1 or £1.50!
SUNDAY RILEY C.E.O RAPID FLASH BRIGHTENING SERUM
This serum. I can’t even get over it. Well, everything I have tried by Sunday Riley really! I wrote a post about this really recently (here). Now, due to the price tag and already having another Vit C serum in my collection, I wouldn’t have been stocking up on this until my previous one was empty. But when Jack and I had finished unpacking from our holiday in Croatia – my beloved serum was nowhere to be found! So. Gutted. I had only used about a quarter of the bottle. I have been using my Dr.Dennis Gross vitamin C serum in the mean time but honestly, it just doesn’t do it for me like this one does! So I had to buy another before leaving my job and losing my discount. It’s worth it, but I am still so sad that I misplaced my other one!
Sunday Riley C.E.O Rapid Flash Brightening Serum, 30ml. £70
SUNDAY RILEY U.F.O ULTRA CLARIFYING FACE OIL
Sunday Riley, again! This was recommended to me by a colleague who swears by it and uses it religiously every night. After reading a few blog posts and doing my research I couldn’t find anyone who had a bad thing to say about this! I was dubious at first, do I really need to add an oil into the endless cleansers, serums, face masks, toners and exfoliants in my collection? It turns out, yes. Yes I do. I will write a full post on this but its basically amazing and I couldn’t recommend it enough!
Sunday Riley U.F.O Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil, 15ml. £34
DHC DEEP CLEANSING OIL
Another thing I have written about time and time again, but as this was a stocking up haul, it was bound to be full of my faves! You can read my full review here but in a nutshell, you rub on your dry face with your dry hands and it MELTS your makeup off. Leaving silky smooth skin. Winning.
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, 70ml. £12.50
PIXI GLOW TONIC
Tired of hearing me harp on about this yet? My fave toner ever! I gave up on toners as a filler product, something invented by the cosmetics industry to make you spend more, but this is literally like a magic potion! Read my full review here.
Pixi Glow Tonic, 250ml. £18
MARIO BADESCU GLYCOLIC FOAMING CLEANSER
The Mario Badescu acne facial cleanser was the first product I tried by Mario Badescu. I was really impressed with it and its lasted ages! Im still using it now and trying to get to the end of the bottle before I open this glycolic one. The glycolic foaming cleanser was recommended to me by pretty much everyone who I worked with at Harvey Nichols. As soon as I told people I had bought the acne facial cleanser, they all said that the glycolic foaming cleanser was more effective.
Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser, 177ml. £15
MARIO BADESCU FACIAL SPRAY WITH ALOE, HERBS AND ROSEWATER
I had juuuust about run out of my rosewater spray when it came to me leaving Harvey Nichols so this was a general need to buy product. I loooove using it as a setting spray after doing my makeup, it just takes the edge off the finish that powder can give and makes your skin all dewy and hydrated again.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs And Rosewater, 236ml. £12
One known to me, the other totally new, but if I was going to get it at some point then it needed to be now!
COLORWOW DREAM COAT
Sorry but if only you knew how hard it was to take a remotely alright photo of a full reflective bottle! This was the best I could get… *Googles photography tips*
I wrote a full review on this product when I received a sample bottle from ColorWOW. It absolutely blew my mind! My hair before and after was insane, it felt so smooth, shiny and strong. You can read my full review here.
ColorWOW Dream Coat Supernatural Spray, 200ml. £24
OUAI MEMORY MIST
I have heard SO much about Ouai from absolutely all angles, especially their hair oil. As I am totally happy with the hair oil I use at the moment I didn’t really feel the need to ‘fix it if it aint broken’. I had seen this memory mist used by Jen Atkin on Jamie Genevieve in a YouTube video here and was pretty impressed, and then a stylist at work put some bouncy curls in a colleagues hair… I shit you not those curls lasted THREE DAYS!!! In thick hair too. From seeing it being used on one of my fave influencers and then seeing the effects on somebody I know, I was sold. I am yet to use this myself but I have full faith in it!
Ouai Memory Mist, 126g. £25
Honey. HonEY. This is where I went absolutely bat-shit crazy and lost all sense of financial responsibility. Forgive me Lloyds, for I have sinned.
I really wanted this ever since seeing all of the amazing videos on the Iconic London Instagram. Because I’ve been so happy with my Mario Badescu spray mentioned above, I just had no need for another setting spray. But when faced with potentially wanting to buy it later down the line and missing out on my 30% discount I couldn’t help myself! I have used it a few times now and it lives up to allllll expectations. Full review soon!
Iconic London Prep-Set-Glow, 120ml. £18.50 (Glow)
ICONIC ORIGINAL ILLUMINATOR
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh I have been telling myself to buy this for so long! It’s one of those things that I just kept saying ‘I need to get that’ and then never got around to it. So the time has come. Everyone knows I have a complete and utter highlighter addiction and this is up there with the best of them. I know not many people like liquid highlighters but I am SUPER impressed. You literally need the tiniest drop and it blends into your makeup seamlessly, no separating your foundation or powder. Just, YES.
Iconic London Illuminator Drops, 10ml. £30 (Original)
FENTY EYESHADOW PRIMER
My first eyeshadow primer! I have used a sample of the Nars eyeshadow primer before but I honestly don’t think I was even using it right! But having played with this one at work I was super impressed at how it brought out the pigment in shadows, so I decided to give it a try. It is SO effective you only need the teeniest tiniest amount!
Fenty Beauty Pro Filter Amplifying Eye Primer. £18
LAURA MERCIER CANDLEGLOW SHEER PERFECTING POWDER
I have written about this previously here. But its pretty much an Insta filter for the face – SO nice and perfect for me as I don’t like to fully set my foundation with powder, I will set under my eyes with baking powder but thats it. For this product I use a stippling brush to lightly go over my face after foundation/concealer/baking the under eye – and it makes everything look that little bit nicer! Also, when you’ve pretty much totally hit pan on a powder, how nice is it to open a fresh new one?! You almost forget that yours could have ever looked like that!
Laura Mercier Candleglow Sheer Perfecting Powder. £32 (Shade 3)
ICONIC SCULPT & BOOST EYEBROW CUSHION
I don’t know how many times I must have talked about this product! Literally the be all and end all of brows I swear! Suuuuuuper easy to use and perfect every time. You can read my full review here… be warned, this review was from when I first started writing my blog and decided to try my hand at making a little video… its cringe but whatever hahah.
Iconic London Sculpt & Boost Eyebrow Cushion. £27 (Shade Medium)
NARS ALL DAY LUMINOUS WEIGHTLESS FOUNDATION
Nars packaging is so, so nice. That is not up for discussion! But the quality of their products is also second to non. I have loved watching the new social campaign for their Caution mascara with all of the influencers in Ibiza, and from working in retail they seem like a great company to work for from all angles too. It doesn’t matter how much I like a brand, if I know that as a retailer they treat their staff like dirt, it really puts me off wanting to spend money with them. So, I have become a little obsessed with Nars products. I’m currently using some of their skin care bits and I’m hella impressed. This foundation doesn’t disappoint either! This is a full coverage foundation that still feels lightweight on the skin with a glowing, luminous finish. Im preparing to write a full review on this one!
Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. £35 (Shade Santa Fe)
NARS SHEER GLOW FOUNDATION
I couldn’t leave a make-up department without purchasing this staple foundation. This foundation isn’t my usual coverage, as it is sheer but buildable, but it looks oh so pretty on the skin and it really is buildable. There is nothing worse than being duped into buying a ‘buildable coverage’ foundation only to find that it is light and sparse no matter how much you apply. The only thing that niggles me about it, is the pump. I get that some people don’t need a pump are prefer to pour the product out, especially artists. But generally I think that a foundation should just come with a pump. I mean, it’s only around £3-5 for the pump depending where you buy it – but still. ANYWAY…that doesn’t effect the foundation itself so lefts move on!
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. £33 (Shade Santa Fe)
NARS SOFT MATTE CONCEALER
Mmmmmmmm that unused new concealer is so nice to look at! I have written about this before here, if you want to read about it. A tip I saw online was to use a concealer with this consistency, don’t quite blend properly, and then add a liquid concealer, blend, and then it looks completely flawless! I always add a little baking powder on top too because my under eyes are prone to creasing. If you haven’t tried this concealer before I would 100% recommend, but I did find that it ran out fairly fast compared to my other concealers. I would also say to use this specifically for under the eyes rather than to cover blemishes but thats just my personal preference with the texture.
Nars Soft Matte Concealer. £24 (Shade Custard)
NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER
Every make-up artists must have, but one I had never tried. Even though EVERYONE had raved about it! Medium-full coverage concealer, it applies like a dream and it everything you would want in a concealer. I will do a full review on this eventually!
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. £24 (Shade Custard)
ARMANI LUMINOUS SILK FOUNDATION
STOP EVERYTHING. THIS FOUNDATION IS WORTH THE HYPE. I had heard about this incredible foundation from everyone, right from friends, to colleagues, to Kylie Jenner mentioning it on Instagram! I’ll be honest, I have been so happy with my current foundation(s) that I just didn’t think the £42 price tag was something I could justify. Erm, yeah. I was wrong. Its worth every bit of the hype… and I kinda hoped it wouldn’t be, so that I didn’t want to wear this every day for the rest of my life! Such a perfect, flawless finish.
Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, 30ml. £42 (Shade 3.5)
DIOR ADDICT IT-LASH
My all time fave mascara <3. I am using the Hourglass Caution mascara as the moment, here is my post, and I would definitely re-purchase it, but I think I will always come back to this one! Everything you could want in a mascara, all rolled into one. If you are looking for a new high end mascara, this is ya gurl.
Dior Addict IT-Lash. £27 (Shade 092 IT-Black)
R.I.P bank account, because I also bought the Jamie Genevieve for MAC lipstick the day after from Selfridges!
MAC ‘VELVET TEDDY’ MATTE LIPSTICK
Everyone’s favourite nude lipstick. Need I say more? When I was growing up I feel like the only ‘high end’ brand worth buying was MAC. No other brand even came into consideration, and now there are SO many different brands to choose from, MAC has been forgotten about a little bit, but their quality is still second to none. And lets face it, their choice of lipstick’s is absolutely unrivaled!
MAC Matte Lipstick. £17.50 (Shade Velvet Teddy)
MAC ‘YASH’ MATTE LIPSTICK
I love this colour because I feel like if I have warm toned eyeshadow, Velvet Teddy can make my whole look, look a little too warm and pink toned. Where as Yash is super nude, but not as pale and concealery looking as their popular lipstick, Myth.
MAC Matte Lipstick. £17.50 (Shade Yash)
MAC ‘SPICE’ LIP LINER
I wear Spice with Velvet Teddy, the perfect combination!
MAC Lip Pencil. £14 (Shade Spice)
MAC ‘STRIPDOWN’ LIP LINER
I wear Stipdown with my Yash lipstick, but its also perfect with my Jamie Genevieve x MAC lipstick too!
MAC Lipliner. £14 (Shade Stripdown)
HOURGLASS ‘I’VE NEVER’ CONFESSION REFILLABLE LIPSTICK
To tell you the truth, I am PISSED that I had to buy this lipstick. I was very kindly gifted this lipstick by Hourglass, but in different colour, and then bought the ‘I’ve Never’ refill… and literally 2 days later I went on a night out, woke up, and it wasn’t in my bag! GUTTED. So I had to re-purchase. I loved it too much to just give it up as a bad job and I absolutely love the fact that the lipstick’s are interchangeable. One packaging fits all! And the refills are good value for money so it’s a win/win.
Hourglass Confession Lipstick. £31 (Shade I’ve Never)
Hourglass Confession Lipstick Refills. £20
So…. I guess it’s safe to say I am fully stocked up! I never used to understand it when people said they had a product but hadn’t used it yet, because I have always been the type of person to buy something, get home and use it straight away! However I’m so stocked up, that I am one of those people now. What on earth! I’ve had to make a draw specifically for spares… not that I’m complaining! I definitely have enough to keep the blog running for quite a while anyway!
And thats my haul!!! There was also the biggest leaving present full of goodies from the department which was so lovely of everyone, but there was far too much for me to include it in this post! I will miss everyone so, so much, but heres to new beginnings!
Have you used any of the products mentioned? If you were to buy everything on your wishlist all at once, what would be on it?
Love, Chelsea xxx
