Every time I start a post with ‘Hi Lovelies’ I think about my mum saying to me a few weeks ago ‘do you have to start your blog posts like that? I think it sounds patronizing’ hahah! Does anyone else feel like that? I don’t mean to be patronizing! I just didn’t know how to start my first few posts and decided on that, after one or two I decided to keep it!
Anyway, I’m starting to think about what to pack for my holiday to Croatia with Jack, so I thought it might be a nice chance to tell you the things I’m taking, especially when it comes to the products I don’t use daily, but will take away with me. You tend to need different things when you’re on holiday, products with more hydrating qualities etc. so lets go through what I’m packing in my suitcase!
I like to leave my full size skin care products at home when I travel – it leaves more space/weight for clothes! So mini’s are my best friend on holiday.
VICTORIA’S SECRET DRY FRAGRANCE OIL
This is now discontinued but if you just Google it there are looooaaaads of resellers, including Amazon here. This oil is great because it smells of the gorgeous, signature Victoria’s Secret body scent, but also hydrates your skin, leaving an amazing glow effect. I usually use it around my neck/collar bone/chest/shoulder area, on my legs and on my arms while I’m away. It looks great, smells great, and draws attention to all the right places – disguising any unforgiving areas.
CLINIQUE MOISTURE SURGE CONCENTRATE MINI
This is a fairly new product for Clinique, and its a good one! Moisture Surge claims to boost the skins water levels for 24 hours, its lightweight, water based and fragrance free. Ive tried it a few times and it really is good! I haven’t used it on holiday before, but I used a bit of my miniature last week when I had been in the sun all day. After I removed all my makeup and cleansed I applied the concentrate and my skin felt perfectly hydrated and repaired. Im excited to use this in-between tanning!
EVE LOM GEL BALM CLEANSER MINI
This cleanser smells AMAZING. Eve Lom’s signature scent is a mix of clove, eucalyptus and chamomile oil. I tried the cleanser out the other day before using a bubble mask (read about it here) and I loved it. It is a gel consistency but once you work it into your skin it feels more like a balm… Hence the ‘gel balm’ name! The cleanser gets rid of all dirt and makeup, but it doesn’t strip your skin of moisture at all. After you’ve used it you just feel so nourished and relaxed, just what you want on holiday!
TARTE TARTEIST LIP PAINT MINIS
I got these miniatures with a Pretty Little Thing order I made a while ago. Now, I’ve talked about my relationship with lipsticks before. Theres a few I like but I didn’t wear them religiously by any means, things have changed! I wear lip products daily now and these ones are brought out all of the time! I love wearing them to work because they literally last all day, don’t flake, transfer, nothing. Once they run out I’m 100% buying the lighter one – but for now these are coming to Croatia with me!
MARIO BADESCU FACIAL SPRAY WITH ALOE, CHAMOMILE AND LAVENDER – MINI
This came in a little bag of freebies when I last purchased a few Mario Badescu products. I use their rose water version every day as a setting spray and to brighten my skin up when its feeling dehydrated. When I saw their new facial spray was in the little bag of samples I received I was excited! I didn’t want to lug around my full size one, but I didn’t want to buy one of their smaller ones either so this came at just the right time! This version of their famous facial spray can be used to set makeup and hydrate too, but its also got a calming aroma which will be prefect after a day at the beach.
These were given to myself, my friend Abby and Scarlett when we went to India with my friend Ajay and his family. Their family friend gave them to us on our last night in different colours and they are my favourite earrings now! Every time I wear them they get complimented and they make be feel like a small part of me if still away somewhere, even when I’m sat at a computer at work! The blue beads look so summery and cute – they are the only pair ill be taking with me.
BOOTS SUN CARE LOTION
I’ve always gone for drug store sun lotion, I generally never see much difference between sun creams – correct me if you think high end is best! But so far for me they have all done the same job – so I don’t see much point spending large amounts on something that is supposed to be used liberally. I always apply factor 30 on a morning while I’m away, and then when I top up I use 15… unless I’m getting burnt in which case its factor 30 and shade for me! This is also the reason I got the 30 in a lotion and a 15 as a spray, its easier to apply a spray on the go.
JUNGLE FORMULA BITE & STING RELIEF
Jungle formula is amazing. It is slightly more expensive than your drug store own brand bug spray etc but its WELL worth it. The repellent is also amazing but I don’t think I will need it much in Croatia. I bought the highest strength Jungle Formula repellent when I went to Thailand and oh my days, you cannot spray that stuff indoors! You can taste it! It is SO strong, if you don’t need the extreme one, the normal one is just as good I promise! Because I don’t think we will need much repellent in Croatia I just bought the relief, just incase we get the odd bite. Fingers crossed we don’t get eaten alive…
Here is my standard ‘what to pack’ list for everything else i’ll be taking with me! Obviously clothes and shoes are a given, but I almost always forget something and have to buy it in the airport so lists save my life when it comes to packing.
- Tooth brush and tooth paste
- Scissors (you always end up needing them for something)
- Plug adaptor
- Phone charger
- Nail varnish remover
- Hair brush
- Make up and brushes (sounds like a given? I once forgot my whole make up bag and had to buy basics in the airport!)
- Micellar water and cotton pads
- Contact lens case/solution/spare lenses
- Snorkel (I have my own pink one!)
- Contraceptive pill
- Body lotion/moisturiser
Is there anything that I’ve missed off my list thats a must have for you? Please let me know in the comments below… before its too late!
Love, Chelsea xxx
