Guess what I got for my birthday??? My fabulous friends Amy and Paige got me two of my top wishlist items for my birthday and I was SO EXCITED when I unwrapped them! Ive been a little obsessed with Morphe since buying my first item from them, the 35O eyeshadow palette (which you can read all about here), so the next on my list was the 35O2 eyeshadow palette and the Babe in Paradise highlighting palette – they bloody went and got me both of them didn’t they!!!!
Needless to say I have been using both these items since my birthday and now its time to share my thoughts. If you don’t know who Bretman Rock is, you need to stop reading, search @bretmanrock on Instagram, and then come back and carry on reading! He is so funny, his videos keep me super entertained, just the sassiest bae evaaaaaaaa.
Lets start with the packaging, how bloody cute? I love the bird of paradise/tropical theme, the geometric holographic patterns and the the copper/bronze – its perfect in every way! The one thing I wish the palette had is a mirror. I know Morphe palettes don’t have generally have mirrors and this keeps the cost down and everything, but it’s something I miss with this item. Every time I open it up to do my makeup I forget that there isn’t a mirror and have to find one elsewhere! I like to use a hand held mirror for highlighter so I can move around and see how it looks with the light catching my face, otherwise I tend to put faaaaar too much on and end up looking like a disco ball when I step out into natural light. No Bueno.
I love the little message from Bretman on the inside of the palette, ‘Aloha, Mahalo for supporting your fave babe in paradise, growing up on the island gave me a diverse perspective on life that I want to share with you. I hope this palette captures the essence of paradise beauty. Bye, Bitch’
6 colours, for every skin shade, totally wearable.
BEHBEH GURL – Iridescent pale shimmery pink. This shade is SO pretty and like no other highlighter I own. I like to use this shade under my eyebrow arch, the top of my nose and my cupids bow. I think these areas make the colour super wearable, however if you use it on your cheek bones it looks really eye-catching and you will definitely stand out for all the right reasons! In the photos of me in this post I have only used this colour on my inner corner and as a spotlight eyeshadow.
VAYGAYTION – Pale frosty golden colour. This shade is probably the one wear the most because its the most generic highlight colour. The pigment is INSANE. I always go in for a few sweeps with my brush like I do my other highlighters but you really don’t need to with these! one sweep is more than enough. In the photos of me in this post I have used this colour under the arch of my brows and on my temples.
MAHU – Gold with a very slightly pink undertone. This colour is beauuuutiful. More gold than I would usually wear, less gold than Trophy Wife by Fenty. The pink undertones make this colour really wearable! Beach vibes.
GET LEI’D – Warm golden colour with pink tones. After Vaygaytion this is the one I get the most use out of. All of the shimmer particles are so fine the highlighters are truly beautiful! In the photos of me in this post I have used this colour as my main highlight on the tops of my cheek bones, on my cupids bow and on my nose.
CHEEHOO – Deep pink. This one is so, so gorgeous but I’m not too sure how to wear it as a highlighter if I’m honest! It would make a gorgeous eyeshadow, I have been using it after highlight and bronzer but slightly brushing it on the apple of my cheek so its like a shimmery blush. In the photos of me in this post I have used this colour as a blusher.
SHADY BITCH – Bronnnnzeeee. This is by far my favourite shade name of them all! This one is for a tan only if worn as a highlighter. It looks pretty nice over a bronzer and as an eyeshadow too! Super beaut, I love swatching this one! In the photos of me in this post I have used this colour as a bronzer!
The consistency, quality and pigment in all of these shades is second to non. The pigment and fine glitter particles are so, so beautiful and look amazing on the skin. I like the way my brush works with these highlighters too. Some highlighters can go a little hard after a few uses, like a seal is created between the pigment and the brush? Anyone ever found this? Well, these highlighters stay nice and compact but as a soft powder. The perfect consistency… I’m honestly blown away!
The brush is handy aswel, I don’t usually use a fan brush if I’m honest. I find them to flick the highlighter a little too far across your face and I like to keep my highlighter where I want it! I don’t want it dusting off all over my face and when the highlighters are made of such fine pressed powders, this can happen quite easily. But its nice to have! The quality of the hair is super soft and nice, they don’t malt all over your face which is obviously a positive! I bought a fan brush from eBay and the brush is SO thin it’s absolutely useless, see photos below! The Bretman x Morphe brush is a lot more dense so its perfect if you do like a fan brush.
If you’re debating purchasing this highlighter palette, look no further, its definitely worth the money! You can purchase is here from the Morphe website for £29. That makes it around £4.15 per highlighter and for the brush. Bargain.
Have you got this palette? What do you think of it? Have you tried anything by Morphe, or does it put you off when there isn’t anywhere to try a make up brand in real life before you buy it? Morphe will be opening their first UK store soon!
Love, Chelsea xxx
