MY COMPLETE 10 PART SKIN CARE ROUTINE! Mario Badescu/Pixi/La Prairie and more!

March 2, 2018

Hi Lovelies!

******Just want to jump in by letting you all know that apart from brightness/contrast I have not to edited any of these photos so you get to see the true effects of all the products I use, step by step! I dont have photoshop, so don’t usually edit my face on photos anyway apart from the odd iPhoto blemish tool, but I can assure you even that hasn’t been used at all in this post.******

You may have noticed (or not) that a large amount of my recent posts were skin care based, this is because I did a complete HAUL on my skin care products in an effort to clear my skin and start looking after it properly.

I bought the products and really got into the routine some time at the beginning of January, so now we’re into March my skin has had time to adjust to all the products and I have had chance to see which products are working for me and what I will be repurchasing… past my initial thoughts.

Almost all of the products in my routine I have already reviewed, and those ones will be linked to the individual post for you guys to read (if you want to!), anything I am using that hasn’t yet had a review, will do soon!

The after work grime is real!

In trying to up my skin game I have found myself researching absolutely everything and getting to know so much more than I did before! Im currently obsessed with the different acids you can use for problem skin, which has had me digging out products I’ve had for bloody ages and never regularly used! I am now officially one of those people who picks up a skin product and turns it straight over to check the ingredients. *I know, who am I?!?*

When I started getting into a routine I was trying to combat regular breakouts mostly around my cheeks, under the surface spots, blackheads on my nose and general uneven skin tone. Since getting into a skin care habit, I can hand on heart say that I am seeing such a big different with my skin! The blackheads on my nose have dramatically reduced, but fuck my life they have been stubborn! I know extraction is pretty much the only way to get rid of blackheads so you can start again in preventing sebum, but I’m very wary about squeezing/putting pressure onto my nose because I have filler in my nose to make it straight, and I just feel like pressing down on the filler will wear it down… probably not how it works but thats how my mind works! Elsewhere I am having barely any breakouts, and any spots that do pop up go away within a day or two all on their own (or with the help of a certain Mario Badescu Product!). My skin tone is looking more even, no red blotchy patches, and my under the surface spots have mostly come to the surface now, so what I thought was red scars on my skin have disappeared… because they were actually spots trying to escape! Gross but true.

So, This is the routine I will do most days, when getting home from work when I have had my makeup on need to remove it and take care of my skin.

Garnier Micellar Water

I mean, its a must for anybody! Because I wear fairly heavy makeup every day at work I use this as my first port of call to remove all my eye makeup and foundation. I just love this product because it does its job, what more can you ask for? So many products have claims to easily remove makeup and they just don’t cut the mustard so this is a fave because it quite simply does what it says on the tin. With only 7 ingredients its a great solution for a quick and easy fix.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

This is just what I use as an alternative if I have run out of micellar water, if I have run out of cotton pads, or if I feel like I need something really gentle but effective. Maybe I should use this instead of micellar water and then use the micellar when I don’t have any DHC left, hmm, skin care guru’s let me know! This is used on a dry face with your dry hands to apply, and just melts away your makeup/general daily grime. Its fab to use when your skin is feeling a little sensitive and you want to limit the friction on your skin from using cotton pads. Once you have massaged the product in you wash it all off with warm water and wallah, super clean skin! This product is THE SHIT and I have done a full review on it here.

Mario Badescu Acne Facial Cleanser

This is a non foaming cleanser that I use after taking off my makeup with one of the above items, to make sure my skin is super clean! This product, oh my days I absolutely love it, and I feel like its made a big difference to the overall condition of my skin and to help keep the spots at bay! It took a little while to get used to it being a non foaming cleanser, because it kind of just feels like you’re rubbing gel across your wet face and not doing anything – but trust me, IT IS! Through reading some blog posts and talking to people at work I have had a lot of hear say that the Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser is actually better at helping rid you of spots, if anybody has any more feedback on this I would love to know as I’m thinking it might be worth a try! I already use another product containing Glycolic Acid, so might stick to using my Glycolic in another product and stick with my Acne Facial Cleanser because it contains Salicylic Acid – get my dose of both! I did a full review on the Mario Badescu Facial Cleanser here.

Mario Badescu Almond and Honey Face Scrub

Initially I really liked this product, But I only use it now as more or a ‘nice’ product to use rather than an effective product. This exfoliator is not going to change your life, or your skin, in my opinion. Its lovely, it smells good enough to eat, and is soft and gentle on your skin, but if you’re actively trying to get rid of spots etc, this is not the product for you. It IS the product for you is you have skin that irritates easily and need an exfoliator that isn’t abrasive and isn’t going to irritate you in the slightest. I did a review on this product here, and I will continue to use this for the days my skin doesn’t need the next product…

Rodial Super Acids X-Treme After-Party Scrub

Guys, let me tell you. I was gifted this product, used it once, thought it was fab, put it in a box never to be seen again. WHY DID I DO THIS?! I could have had amazing skin for the past year and a half! When I started researching acids for the skin I remembered that I had this product hidden away in the depth of my beauty boxes and managed to dig it out when Jack and I moved in together. It has changed my skin so much in just two weeks I can’t even tell you, Granted, I used it 4 days straight when we first moved in because I got overly excited, and then some of the skin on my nose started flaking off hahaha, so I had to chill out a little. This product contains both Salicylic AND Glycolic acid so really lives up to the name ‘SUPER ACIDS’. Used twice a week this product is super effective and I am so excited to write a review on it, I will make sure I do a full review next week because the whole range is actually getting discontinued and is on sale on the Rodial website! I am 100% stocking up and probably going to buy the full range.

Mario Badescu Silver Powder

At first I thought this product was fabulous, now, I’m not so convinced that this is whats making all the difference to my skin, but still I am using it and persisting because its easy to use and everybody loves it… I’m just waiting to see the long lasting results. The effects of this will probably start to really show once I have cleared the blackheads on my nose and then working to prevent them coming back. That is after all what this powder does, it PREVENTS sebum built up, doesn’t reaaalllyyy get rid of them. I did a full review on this here.

Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion

I got this because it was suggested to use in conjunction with the Acne Facial Cleanser and Silver Powder. On the days you aren’t exfoliating or using silver powder you’re supposed to cleanse and then use this cleansing lotion afterwards, before toner, as well as on a morning and night. On days I use the Silver Powder I use this to actually remove the powder. In all honesty, I don’t have a clue what this is reallllyyy doing for my skin that all my other products aren’t. I feel like this is probably more for someone who has perfect skin and just needs a light cleanser on a morning and night, and nothing more. Unfortunately, my skin isn’t like that and I have products with such amazing ingredients that this isn’t just that necessary for my routine. I’ve still added this in because I’m still using it and probably will until its empty – But I wont be repurchasing. Full review here!

Pixi Glow Tonic

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Words can’t describe my love for this item. Whenever I apply it I’m literally living my best life. Just, YES. It contains 5% Glycolic acid which makes your skin look LIT AF after application, Full review here. I don’t even feel the need to justify my love for this item and neither should you. Honestly buy this and you will never ever look back!

Sunday Riley C.E.O Rapid Flash Brightening Serum

Im actually only using a sample of this at the moment that a colleague kindly gave me from their own bottle. Its on the pricey side at £70 but I really do love this. I kind of didn’t want to love it because its so expensive and I’ve never used a serum before, so to start with something so high priced seemed crazy but waaaaah its so good! It makes my skin lovely and bright, evens out my skin tone amazingly, gives my skin a nice burst of hydration that is super light and just soaks into the skin, and generally smells amazing and is super luxury. I just really don’t know if I can justify the price as much as I would love this to be a permanent fixture. I have linked it here.

I alternate my eye cream, not because one is better than the other, just because I feel like it!

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye

I really love this eye cream/gel, its super gentle and I have seen a difference in my under eye fine lines since using it. I used to find that half way through the day my makeup would sink into the tiny little lines under my eyes no matter what I did, and then I realised it wasn’t my makeup I had to fix – it was my skin care! I use it morning and night, It was gifted to me and is £43 for 15ml. The whole advanced night repair range is amazing and the pot has so far lasted me bloody ages! I use it morning and night. The formula is patented by Estee Lauder until 2033 and facts like that just make me excited so, yeah! I might do a full review, I’m not sure, is it necessary? Buy it here.

YSL Forever Youth Liberator Eye Cream

This eye cream is, erm, amazing! *The Forever Youth Liberator range uses an ingredient Glycanactif, this is a patented combination of 3 glycans, backed up by 7 Nobel prize’s! These ingredients have been shown to not only plump and hydrate skin cells, but also bond the cells and multiply them, meaning your skin cells are literally regenerating themselves and reversing the effects of aging! So, yeah, it’s a pretty big deal and when the cream from this range launched in 2012, 5000 people pre-ordered it. I have linked it here for you!

*I have collated the info above from various sites across the internet such as the YSL website and The Guardian, so some may not be accurate but I did the best I could with what I had, and as far as I am aware all the points made are true and factual to date.

Organically You Avocado and Rosehip Facial Balm

You can find Organically You here which will tell you everything you need to know about themselves, their products and the ingredients they use, But as I have said before they are my fave organic skin care brand ever! This balm is absolutely amazing and both me and my beauty product novice boyfriend love it! He steals mine so I’m going to have to buy him his own. I did a full review on their range here, But yeah, this moisturiser/balm is amazing and leaves your skin radiant, smooth to touch and when you apply it on a night I promise you will wake up and wont be able to stop looking at yourself!

La Prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystals Cream

A review on this is yet to come, I think its only fair to give this cream bit of time to work its magic before I air my opinion on it but so far, so good! The ‘Swiss Ice Crystal’ range had been specifically formulated to combat the first signs of aging, so is perfect for my skin because its more to hold off the signs of aging than reverse them. This is also why I’m probably noticing results slowly. Its very hydrating, not oily, and a little goes a veeeeeery long way! I literally use the teeniest amount daily – the tub will last me forever! Down side? Its £239 for 50ml… Ouch. The lifespan of this product once opened is only 12 months, now, I feel like I could definitely make this product stretch beyond that time with how little you need but after the 12 months the ingredients will lose their potency, So there isn’t much point! You can buy this product here. I keep dropping mine hence all the dents!

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

Full review here! Im sure you’ve heard of this product before, but it is truly amazing! you use this before bed as the very last part of your skin care routine. Simply dab a Q-tip into the sediment at the bottom of the bottle and apply to your spots, go to sleep, wake up, your spots are dramatically reduced if not completely gone! The best.

And thats it! My full skin care routine! Heres a little side by side of my skin after just removing my makeup, compared to after I have finished doing my skin, I think the difference is quite considerable! Obviously I still have half a face of makeup on in the first photo but you get the gist!

Let me know what you think!

Love, Chelsea xxx

Your skin is so glowy & beautiful!
I’ll be honest this is way too many steps for me, but I love all the product recommendations! That Mario Badescu scrub sounds divine, and I absolutely need to pick up a bottle of Pixi Glow Tonic!

Thank you! On the days I’m not exfoliating it’s just remove makeup/cleanse/tone/serum/moisturise which isn’t too bad but twice a week I do the whole routine! I put off buying the glow tonic for agessss despite so many recommendations – worst mistake! It’s incredible! Xxx

Aw thank you lovely! Im almost positive you wont look like a potato hahah! I think what I lack in the jaw line and lip department I might have slightly made back in my cheeks?! Also, artificial lighting gave me lots of help! I took the photos using the camera flash and pointing a table lamp onto my face too. Silver Powder is one of those products I loved, then thought it wasn’t actually doing anything, and now I’m starting to love again! When I was looking through my photos for this this post I was like ‘hmmmm it actually did make a noticable different after removing it!’. I still wish it was silver though! xxx
