Hi Lovelies,
I come here today baring the gift of THE BEST cleanser I have ever used for removing makeup. Long gone are the days of make up remover wipes, I said bye bye to micellar water, and since then I have been trailing different cleansers to find the absolute best ones. I use one cleanser to remove my makeup, and then I cleanse again with a different cleanser to target skin issues and make my face squeaky clean. I have tried a fair few, but non have removed my makeup so effectively with such little amount, and for a good price… as the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cleanser.

I have spoken about a few different cleansers before, I’m a huge fan of the DHC Deep Cleanser Oil, but I had been finding I was going through quite a bit to get rid of stubborn mascara, and I looooove the Eve Lom Gel Balm Cleanser, however the £45 price tag makes it more of a treat than an every day product. I found the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cleanser purely by chance, I received a few sample size product in an event goody bag and gave it a try, I’m sure it was probably a mistake but my goody bag had THREE samples sizes of the same Peter Thomas Roth product inside! And I found that once I had used one up, going back to my other cleansers just didn’t compare. And so I used all three Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cleansers up before finally committing to the full size!
Peter Thomas Roth launched his own skin care line in 1993, after growing up around the beauty industry, as his parents owned two spa resorts in Hungary. Peter Thomas Roth launched his company because he himself had struggled with acne and other skin concerns, and so he had a natural passion for finding and creating effective products. Peter Thomas Roth is the product formulator for the brand and leads all of the research and development for his products. His philosophy for the brand is to create break through formulas by mixing old school Hungarian remedies with 21st century skin care technologies, leading to products that promise astonishing results.
The Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cleanser is a cream cleanser that honestly just looks and smells a bit like hand soap! But it works a whole lot better than that. Containing hyaluronic acid, sodium PCA, coconut oil, and marshmallow root extract, the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cleanser is packed full of ingredients that have hydration and soothing qualities. You get the hydration of hyaluronic acid, combined with the nourishing qualities of the sodium PHC and coconut oil, the coconut oil also gets to work breaking down dirt and oil, and finally you have marshmallow root extract which helps to soften and smooth, dream team ingredients! The ingredients are good but the feel and smell of the cleanser definitely make it an every day cleanser which works a dream with amazing results, rather than a luxurious feeling and smelling formula.
If you have considered switching to using a cleanser for make up removal before, but thought ‘it’s too much effort and takes too long’, of if you are looking for a new, more effective cleanser – this is for you! The Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cleanser takes all of the effort out of makeup removal, just a pea sized amount will remove a whole face of make up – and fast, I’m talking about a minuet if that! I can honestly say I have never used a cleanser which has required as little scrubbing time on the face as this one, waterproof mascara? No problem! Eyelash glue? Easy! I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. Because it is so heavily hydration and water based (and fragrance free) it is ideal for all skin types. Don’t forget that oily skin needs hydration too… that’s usually the reason your skin is over producing oil – its trying to create it’s own hydration!
Fill your sink with warm water, wet your face, squeeze a pea sized amount of the cleanser into your hands and rub this directly onto your face. I usually start by working the cleanser into my (closed) eyes and eyelash area and then spread the product outwards to the rest of my face in circular motions, concentrating on the areas where you are wearing the most makeup (usually eyes and eyebrows). When you feel the mascara and makeup breaking down, scoop water up with your hands and splash the cleanser off of your face. When you have all of the cleanser off your face grab a towel and pat your face dry… I usually have to wipe down my sink area too because I’m careless when splashing! Your skin will feel super clean but not too tight. I follow this up by using another cleanser specifically for skin concerns which contains no makeup removing ingredients, and then continue into the rest of my skin care routine. If you don’t fancy double cleansing just pop a bit of moisturiser on after using the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cleanser and you’re good to go.
I bought my full size Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cleanser (120ml) from Harvey Nichols because I just couldn’t wait for it to be delivered from Beauty Bay, but it was a few pounds more expensive (£23) so I would recommend buying from Beauty Bay linked here for £19 if you can wait a few days for delivery!
Love, Chelsea xxx
