REVOLUTION CONCEAL & DEFINE AND REVOLUTION BAKE & FINISH

April 10, 2018

Hi Lovelies!
I know you’re all probably absolutely sick to death of seeing reviews on the Revolution concealer by now, and I am late to the party to say the least! But when it first came out I just couldn’t get my hands on it! My local Superdrug was out of stock of all the colours I could use EVERY time I went in, and eventually I pretty much just gave in and forgot all about it. I felt like I had seen enough reviews myself to know what was going on there anyway! But I was in Superdrug the other day picking up some more Garnier Micellar Water and noticed a lovely skin colour rainbow of concealers on the Revolution stand and thought I may as well buy it – better late than never!

The Revolution Conceal and Define concealer comes in a massive 18 shades, now, to say it only costs £4 I think thats an amazing colour range for such an affordable item. The concealer features an oversized doe-foot wand so you only need 1 swipe to give you all you need. Revolution say that this concealer is full coverage, matte finish, and crease proof. I was excited to put this to the test as I always suffer with makeup setting in fine lines under my eyes! I went for shade C2 which is their 2nd to lightest shade, I could probably go for a darker shade but I like my concealer LIGHT to brighten my features.

I thought I would give their baking powder a try too, I have been using the Collection sheer loose powder for YEARS, but I bought a new one recently and I don’t feel like its the same formula as it used to be. I used to put it over my concealer and blend it in with a brush and it would go on like a dream, but recently its been going super cakey, and the powder just wasn’t transparent, its been making my under eyes the same colour as my foundation, so it was pointless even using concealer to brighten! Revolution say that this powder has been formulated to be a light finish, suitable for paler skin. It should mattify and lock in your makeup and can be used all over to give a highlighted finish, or in the places you would generally use concealer such as under the eyes, the centre of your forehead, bridge of your nose etc.

I bought 3 Revolution items in total (it was 3 for 2 so it would have been rude not to), I got the concealer £4 , baking powder £5 and a foundation stick £5. Im NOT mad at 3 items for £10 – what an absolute bargain! I am planning to review the foundation stick against my Tom Ford foundations stick soon, so keep an eye out for that one!
First up, I did my eyes, eyebrows and foundation as I would normally when doing my makeup, and then on goes the concealer! I liked the formula, it felt VERY similar to my Estee Lauder Double Wear concealer which is amazing because I’ve just used the last of that one… see here in my empties post! The applicator is really big, so I decided to dab it on my eyes instead of swiping as I didn’t want a super heavy finish. If I’m going out I pretty much paint under my eyes with concealer but to be honest, the formula is such a full coverage and so blendable that I got the same effect with half the product, even though I didn’t mean to! So if I have any advice… go easy, a little goes a long way.

I used a beauty blender to blend the concealer out and as you can see, it literally covered ALL of my under eye and along the tops of my cheek bones! I wish I hadn’t done my eyes beforehand so I could carve out my eyebrows – this would be amazing for that! But if you do this, definitely use a brush to pick up the product from the applicator.
Personally, I don’t feel like I could use this concealer without setting it, I don’t think it has a matte finish at all really, but thats never what I’m looking for in a concealer anyway. I like to look dewy so I’m happy with the formula, but if you’re oily and want a super matte concealer you might not like this. I did leave the concealer to dry a little before I added the baking powder but I just don’t think its very matte – sorry Revolution. I also noticed that it was sinking into my under eye lines so I added the powder when I saw this start to happen to set my concealer.

BLENDED… not matte.

I love that the powder has a little sprinkle top, I tipped the bottle to the side/almost upside down and tapped on the bottom so the powder fell into the lid, and then I used a brush to pick up the product I wanted. The powder is SO fine its amazing! it held on the brush, went onto my skin and there wasnt much fall out really, no big sprinkles down my face, just a teeny bit on my nose and a nice blurred finish. I left this a few mins, and then started to blend the product into my skin. The first few strokes I was a little bit like ‘oh shit’, it looked like it was going to stay white and I would look like I was ill, but it did blend out really nice and left a soft focus finish.

Once this was all blended I finished off with my trusty Laura Mercier Candle Glow powder in shade 3, Nars highlighter (from the Bord de Plage palette), Tom Ford bronzer in ‘Terra’, and a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in ‘Super Cindy’.
This was the final look! And it lasted ALL DAY!

DONE!

My mum, brother and sister came round for a cup of tea and some camambert (YAAAAAS) about an hour later and the first thing my mum commented on was how nice my makeup looked! So I think this concealer is a winner for me! And the baking powder… Bye bye Collection sheer loose powder! Have you tried the Revolution concealer yet? What is your fave Revolution product?

[…] Would it even be a high street faves post without this little gem? This concealer is so, so good! The first tube of this I was surprised how fast it finished considering how much seems to be in the tube when you first use it, but baring in mind you have 3.4ml to play with you are still getting amazing value for money! Full coverage, a range of colours and lasts all day – you just cannot get a better product for such value for money! I do love my Nars concealers but this is definitely the best concealer for under a tenner. I wrote a full review on the Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer here. […]
