Hi Lovelies!

This week have been stressing a little about trying to fit in work, Christmas festivities, gym and writing posts on here, when I stopped and thought, I can’t be the only one trying to juggle all these things? Only a few small percentage of bloggers do this full time…so what are the rest of us doing?

As a person, I don’t really get stressed about much…apart from being cold or hungry, other than that I’m quite a chill person. I try to pick a positive wherever I can but around Christmas I do always end up feeling very stretched. And I know why! Working in retail I always feel like I don’t manage to enjoy Christmas quite as much as those around me. I know right, woe is me! Im not saying retail workers have it the worst by any means, I absolutely appreciate that we have care workers, doctors, fire fighters, taxi drivers, those in hospitality etc who have to work up to and including Christmas Day, at least in retail you are pretty much guaranteed Christmas Day off! I get that, but it just so happens that most of my friends and family aren’t in those sectors, and have the ‘weekends and Christmas off’ situation that I dream of!

From the outside looking in, it seems like having those few days off both sides of Christmas and up to New Year’s just makes the festive period so much nicer and lets you really get into the spirit, knowing you don’t have to be up for work the next day or trying to arrange seeing friends and family around your days off/lunch breaks! The job I am in now is by far the fairest I have come across in retail so I really can’t complain too much! In my last job it was nightshifts, 6am starts and 11pm finishes so in comparison my current situation is fabulous! This year I am working 5 days up to Christmas Day, and then have Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the 27th off which is amazing – and we are closed New Years day so I get that off too! I am very grateful! But will it ever compare to having a full week or so off for Christmas and new year to see your family and friends? Probably not.

If you’re stressing out trying to get your Boxing Day sale shopping done this week, I know it can be quite an ordeal but please share a thought for the person serving you <3, especially if you’re *that* customer demanding to know why the product you want is out of stock… at 5pm on Christmas Eve! I managed to get pretty much all of my shopping done on the 1st December so I knew what my budget was for the rest of the month, YAAAS!

As much as I LOVE my job – and I really do love what I do at the moment, all I want to do this week is drink mulled wine and eat mince pies with my nearest and dearest. Ive been to the Christmas market once and that is just unacceptable!

So, what do you all do? Are the majority of us in jobs that mean we work all the way up to the big day? Or do you get  some time off around the festive period? Do you feel like you have a good balance between work and play around Christmas? And if you do have time off, do you think it makes Christmas nicer or just heightens the dread of going back to work in the new year? Is fitting in blogging just second nature now or do you have to plan your time to fit everything in like me?

Please comment and share!

Love, Chelsea xxx
